From my experience, rednecks are the only group of people that will insult you if you haven’t really asked for it. I think this is because they’re bullies who have always had the upper hand when dealing with other groups of people. And they embrace being stupid which leads them to really believe that they’re right.
That’s why I found it unfortunate that, in my fairly uninformed editorial of the transexual movement, a lot of people accused me of being an ignorant redneck, because rednecks are really the only group of people that I have any issues with at all.
And, I am not a redneck. My blog caption says “One Funny Hick“, but that’s a joke. I’m just a lanky comedian from Fairbanks – arguably the weirdest group of people alive.
That being said, referring to transsexuals as weirdos probably does sound very redneckish if you just stumbled upon it.
I’ve never really had death threats before – once when I made scallops on Thanksgiving, but other than that, I don’t think I’ve really ever bothered anyone.
Now that I have, it doesn’t feel great, and nor do the death threats.
The only thing I can take away from the situation is that, had I not pissed a lot of people off, I probably would never have given thought to a lot of the points they were making – in the case of people like Rye Silverman civilly and respectfully, in many other cases maliciously.
So, I guess being exposed to all of this hatred was deserved, as it mirrored the hatred that I was putting out there. It was truly a learning experience, as I apparently prefer this method of garnering knowledge as opposed to actually reading.
Picking on transgendered people is not really cool.
They probably get picked on all the time.
I have never been picked on, except by rednecks. And often times, I probably unfortunately just blend in. Which is unfortunate.
Rest assured I won’t be opening for Ted Nugent any time soon or hanging around 7-11 parking lots uttering racial slurs.
And in turn, I hope that nobody tries to kill me.
I’ve almost been killed twice by rednecks, once in Northern California by some random tweakers and once in Central Oregon by some really scary rapist type guys, actually at a place called Lenora’s Ghost, so stay away if you’re in the neighborhood.
So, I really would never try and hurt anyone, and nobody else has ever tried to hurt me. Not being the only white guy at a Banda party in Compton, not at a GZA concert, and not in a gay bar.
So, I really don’t like it, but, conversely, I guess that’s why you shouldn’t piss people off.
I don’t understand how that first paragraph isn’t about you. You insult people who haven’t asked for it and you, as a white straight male have always had the upper hand when dealing with others. You are the pot calling the kettle black, and your continued lack of awareness of the privilege you carry in the world is embarrassing. The best way to apologize is to actually say the words I’m sorry, without qualification and without throwing yourself a pity party. This blog post is just as bad as the others.
Ok I’m legitimately confused. It seems this whole blog is a joke where you emulate someone stupid who is proud of being stupid. I’m not trying to be insulting, it’s just that you call yourself a hick – which like you said was a joke – and then you write satirical silly entries which you say are to mock stupid opinions. It seems then that the whole point of blog- character Matt is to be an imitation of what you call a redneck. But now you’re upset about being seen as such?

Ok first off i am a transexual woman and im proud to be a bible touting gun owning proud to be a southern born Baptist from Mississippi.
Now why would you call Rednecks stupid?
My guess is you don’t know the difference between a Redneck and white trash.
Rednecks are just good ol boys and girls who work hard and like a good time.
Rednecks won’t put you down and if you treat them with respect they treat you with respect.
They’re the kind of people who even if they don’t agree with you they’d give the shirt off their back if you needed it.
Now alto of people call Rednecks stupid because we actually stand up for what we really believe in instead of what Hollywood and the left wig media tell us we should believe in.
We also don’t really care about being the most intelligent people in the world we have more important things to worry about then if people think we’re smart or not. In fact if you hung out with us and really paid attention you’d realize the mass majority of us are a hell of lot smarter then we appear to be.
Hell my neighbor worked for NASA as a chemical engineer for years before he retired now he teaches part time at our local high school but to meet him you’ll think his a old hick with the he talks and dresses .
And I know quite a few others like him but they like all of us really don’t care what others think and laugh when they call us stupid.
Basically All we want is for people who don’t live here and don’t have any respect for our way of life or our history and heritage to butt out and leave us alone
You mind your business and we’ll mind ours.
But people who feel like their better then everyone else and want everyone to agree with their way of thinking don’t like that, they get mad and if they can’t find legitimate fault with the person or persons who disagree with them they resort to petty name calling to make them selves feel better.
Librial logic 101 if a conservative is getting the upper hand in a debate or argument yell “you racist”!!! And run away giggling.
Ps. There are also Black red necks as well I know several.
Now white trash on the other hand are well the type of people you describe above their lazy drunk most are meth heads who have no respect for themselves or anyone else same applies to the African version of white trash but not to sound racist ill let you use your imagination on what we tend to call them.
Anywho if your going to use the word rednecks use it right please.
Oh yeah btw I had a 3.8 gpa in college and that’s fine with me.
I like being of average intelligence it means i don’t have to know everything even when I don’t.
