The New York Post (Fox) Is Making Shit Up

The New York Post was never a respectable news source but once Rupert Murdoch and News Corp with their Fox News titty baring anchor robots selling you Romney and Hardee’s took over it was lights out. The Post is now purely a celebrity trash rag that throws in Right Wing slanted headlines as filler for Page Six’s story about Leto’s Brazilian wax, because it turns out the same people who don’t know shit about the news read the Post for their news. Probably not a coincidence.

Nor is it a coincidence news sources in America slanted towards The Right have less incentive to report the news, and therefore don’t, since it makes them look bad. Turns out the Right is the party of huge corporations. Turns out huge corporations are fucking you and me over. Turns out huge corporations own the Post. Turns out huge corporations benefit from selectively publishing or not publishing news about the shit big corporations are doing. Sometimes this is the biggest news. Or not news at all. Hence the Leto. What I’m saying isn’t news really.

A few days ago Amy Adams was bumped from the show called Today because she didn’t want to talk about some Sony leaks which revealed rather banal yet unauthorized information about her. She had wanted to go on the show and simply promote her movie Big Eyes without having to say anything interesting because Today is not an entertainment show, it’s an aggregate for commercials about interesting things. It is hosted an Entertainment Show in TV Guide for the dumb old people still watching it who don’t have Youtube and still subscribe to TV Guide and probably don’t like The Mexicans.

Let me be clear: I don’t care about this Today show thing at all. But I read an article about it in Page Six because I study society whenever I’m doing something I’m ashamed of. Here’s my whole point: The article I read is here and claims Harvey Weinstein, the producer of Big Eyes, was incensed about Amy Adams being bumped from Today.

The article quotes an Anonymous Source, which I have seen is quite common in New York Post articles. I have suspected for a long time the Anonymous Sources in New York Post articles are not actual people and are invented by their staff writers because it’s convenient.

In this particular article the Anonymous Source being quoted says in regards to Harvey Weinstein being livid about Amy Adams’ Today appearance being bumped, which mind you is not anything close to a story since it involves like five tangential non-compelling elements and was only reported by the Post:

“Weinstein wants a formal apology or at least an independent investigation into what happened by an independent authority like Rudy Giuliani.”

And a helicopter and a million dollars? Maybe I should call Giuliani and have him oversee my Fantasy Basketball League? This statement is completely bonkers. Obviously Giuliani won’t be leading an independent investigation into Amy Adams’ PMS. Obviously. So the person quoted is an insane person who has no business being quoted outside of a therapy session.

Yet, it made the New York Post. So, I see the following scenarios as to how this occurred:

1) The staff writer who wrote the article and made up the Anonymous Source is a Columbia Journalism School intern who doesn’t know who Giuliani is and wrote this while drunk at six a.m. thinking they nailed it and then went to work at the Post hungover at 7 a.m. and were amazed nobody read the article before publishing it or called them out on their stupid horse shit.

2) The staff writer who wrote this is giving homeless people forties of Steel Reserve and actually listening to what they say and then quoting them as Anonymous Sources for their shitty articles.

3) The staff writer who wrote this puts sock puppets on his hands and acts as the Anonymous Source for his staff writer friend and vice versa.

4) The staff writer who wrote this is so deeply cynical about his job he doesn’t even have the respect to make his bogus Anonymous Sources sound credible anymore.

5) Murdoch is using Page Six as a testing ground to see how ridiculous shit can get before any alarms are sounded and applying that research directly to Fox News.

Regardless, the Post does this all the time. On matters of Leto’s Brazilian. Immigration. Iraq. Syria. North Korea. Obamacare. Ferguson. Legalized Pot. Abortion. Whatever. All day, every day.

And they know people read it.
